This office design is suitable for a company with a clear hierarchical structure, the latter involves the presence of many subordinates and the traditional system of employee coordination. Nowadays, the open office concept is more popular, it has two main varieties: European and American.
The approach to decorating an office in the US creates a sense of dynamism that can sometimes be perceived as a certain aggressiveness. As a rule, with this approach, a certain style is clearly expressed in the design of the room.
The approach to decoration in Europe is also based on the presence of a common large hall, however, unlike the American approach, it allows for a mixture of styles. Thanks to this, completely dissimilar elements can easily coexist in a “European” office, for example, a Persian carpet and high-tech details. Depending on the furniture that was used to decorate the office, there are several varieties of the European approach: Italian, French, Swedish, German and others. Now we will talk about the most popular styles. All the styles that we will consider are popular not only in their homeland, but also have many fans around the world. This style is known to most of us from Hollywood films. He practically leaves no one indifferent, people either admire him or cannot hide their disgust when they have to deal with this style. The Manhattan style originated in the middle and second half of the 30s of the XX century. Also, this style is sometimes called “Wall Street”. Of course, the emerging style was greatly influenced by the American conscientious approach to work and the desire for success in life. The style suggests the presence of a large hall, which is limited only by columns and outer walls. There are few separate rooms in such an office, as a rule, they are allocated for recreation areas and offices of senior managers. There is also a separate meeting room. The workplaces of most of the office staff are located in one of the large common rooms. The halls are separated from each other by light partitions. Manhattan style allows you to make the most of the limited office space. Interestingly, this style is popular not only in office design, but also in everyday life. Many Americans prefer large studio apartments. Such housing impresses with its “endless expanses” and an abundance of light. A distinctive feature of such housing are large windows and a minimum of furniture. The style is characterized by rigor and asceticism.
The main difference between the European style and the American one is the greater variety of the first. Usually in Europe, a large hall is divided into several parts with the help of light translucent panels. Thanks to these partitions, the employee can feel isolated from their neighbors, while the office remains spacious and bright. As mentioned above, the European approach is divided into national varieties. The difference between them is mainly determined by the type of furniture used. For example, Scandinavians are very fond of using wooden, less often metal and plastic furniture in light shades. Such furniture gives the impression of lightness compared to American, but by European standards it looks a bit heavy. In Britain, Italy and France preference is given to laminate furniture. It has many advantages, first of all, it allows you to emphasize corporate colors, because the laminate can be given any desired color. Very common furniture on metal legs, the latter create a feeling of lightness and sophistication. It is believed that the common European style was primarily created by Italian designers. It is they who create the most refined, airy and diverse design.
The German approach involves the orderliness of details, as well as the convenience and versatility of furniture. The location of each item in the office is carefully thought out. German interiors are distinguished by high practicality and rationality of the working space. However, office interiors do not seem boring, because their strict style is softened by a huge number of different bright colors. Fresh flowers also play an important role in the design of the office.
The French style is distinguished by its brightness, abundance of decor, bright upholstery, but at the same time lightness. Quite often in the French office you can find pictures in luxurious frames. French style has a very special charm, but can bring some eccentricity to the interior.
The main features of the British style are stiffness and sophistication. The English office is planned around a single open space that houses most of the workspaces. However, executive offices and meeting rooms are separated from the common room. British offices, as a rule, are very comfortable, peace reigns in them. Often in such an office you can find furniture made of expensive woods, luxurious handmade carpets, old books, paintings and other antiques. The style of the British cabinet is characterized not only by functionality, but also by a significant amount of aristocracy.
Unlike the French, the Scandinavian style is characterized by poor decor. As a rule, natural materials with a light color are used in the design. Scandinavian offices are very light and spacious, they evoke a feeling of simplicity and naturalness.
The Italian approach assumes the presence of a large open room, around which the office is “built”. This style allows you to do almost any redevelopment, which significantly expands the number of available design options. Along with a spacious hall for ordinary employees, the office has meeting rooms and offices for managers. The design of the Italian office is done in warm colors. The constant companions of Italian interiors are grace and elegance.
The area of the bank is divided into two parts. The first of them is represented by a common room, where most of the customer service operations take place. In the second part are the management offices. This part of the office is usually very different in style from the common room. If in the common hall they adhere to the concept of open space, which is designed to rally the workers, to maintain the spirit of a single team in them, then the management offices, on the contrary, are deliberately designed aristocratically. The fact is that such a somewhat pompous style involuntarily evokes a sense of trust in the bank among customers. We have already familiarized ourselves with a similar design style above using the example of an English office.
The design of the office of a law firm should evoke in visitors associations with quality, stability and reliability, this will greatly facilitate the work of bankers in attracting funds from clients. This effect can be achieved with the help of a rational layout, a strict style and a certain structure of the office, which will display the hierarchy of its employees. For the offices of law firms, the office system is more preferable, because it is more convenient for negotiations. It is also worth noting that a law firm should not skimp on luxurious furniture.
For offices of engineering and technology companies, an open space layout is more convenient. It allows the most efficient use of every square meter and at the same time promotes communication and interaction of employees. At the same time, workers need to provide a certain degree of privacy in the workplace, which can best be achieved with low or translucent partitions. As a rule, in engineering companies, first of all, it is worth striving for greater comfort for employees, and not for greater aesthetics of the premises. After all, design bureaus rarely have visitors. At the same time, one should not deprive the manager’s office of representative functions, it should make a proper impression on visitors. It is worth considering that the style of such an office should not blindly copy samples from companies that operate in other areas. On the contrary, it is worth abandoning the traditional aristocratic style. High-tech office design would be more appropriate.
Such companies should focus on their product in every possible way, this can be done with the help of office design. Therefore, office space often acquires such features as originality and hyperbolicity. Typically, such offices are widely used laminate, metal and glass. The standard is the bright colors of the walls and other elements of the office space. It is worth remembering that with any design, the office should not lose stylistic integrity.
Advertising companies prefer to focus on open space in office design. Often they choose the American approach to design. This is largely due to the peculiarities of the relationship between employees and management, because advertising companies are democratic, their management is always open to new ideas. In advertising companies, when choosing furniture, preference is given to ergonomic and multifunctional samples.
The design of a typical Japanese office is based on three principles: simplicity, consistency, harmony. The furniture in Japanese offices is quite uniform, almost always the same materials are used, the furniture of different employees practically does not differ. For decoration, natural fabrics are used, a pronounced craving for the use of materials of natural origin and light soft colors is noticeable in everything. When repair and furnishing an office, this should be taken into account. The structure of the office reflects the hierarchy of relations between employees and company management. Ordinary workers sit together in an “open space” with virtually no partitions between jobs. The company’s management has separate offices, which, as a rule, are located directly opposite the common room, as a result, the management can always watch subordinates. As in European offices, the design often emphasizes the scope of the company.
In Ukraine, open space in the office has not yet become a common practice. Typically, such a layout can only be found in the editorial offices of newspapers and magazines. In most companies, the office consists of many separate rooms. Such a system poorly reflects the hierarchy among the company’s employees. Only two layers can be distinguished: managers and subordinates. The difference between the two is that managers use their offices alone, while subordinates are forced to share them with other employees. The most spacious room is usually assigned to the head office. The interior of such an office is almost always designed in a classic style. In the design, they strive to emphasize the financial success of the company, the design of the cabinet can be characterized by such words as rich, solid, expensive, even luxurious. Modern office assignments are designed specifically for this use of office space. Each floor is a separate office, it is not divided into many small rooms, a single space is divided into parts only by columns. As a result, the company has the opportunity to decorate the office in a style that suits it.
The material for the manufacture of concrete countertops is interior concrete – it is a hardened mixture based on a binder. Often, cement is traditionally used as the latter. Also, the composition of the mixture includes various aggregates:
Concrete is a porous material, so any contamination is difficult to remove. Organic substances are clogged in the pores of the material. Concrete must be protected from contact with various acids, the latter destroy calcium, which is the main binder in concrete. Even lemon juice is dangerous for a concrete surface; a drop of it will leave a dull spot behind.
This disadvantage of concrete countertops is successfully eliminated by polymerization of their surface. The polymeric substance covers the entire area of the countertop with a thin uniform layer and prevents direct contact of concrete with the environment. The countertop protected in this way is easily washed from any contamination, it is not afraid of products with a strong coloring effect:
The concrete used for the manufacture of countertops is a durable material, it is not inferior in hardness to granite, but the polymer coating is less stable. Therefore, it is not recommended to use the countertop as a surface for cutting food, as this can easily scratch the surface of the table.
Actually, concrete can withstand high temperatures, but the polymer coating is less thermally stable. Experiments have shown that a polymer-coated concrete countertop can safely withstand prolonged contact with objects whose temperature is less than 150 degrees Celsius. This means that pans can be safely placed on the countertop immediately after the stove. But with a hot frying pan it’s better not to risk it, otherwise the surface of the table may melt.
Such countertops can be used in conditions where the likelihood of regular pollution is almost completely excluded, for example, in the living room or bedroom. It is not recommended to use unprotected countertops in the kitchen or bathroom.
Countertops without a polymer coating need to be treated with impregnations from time to time, they do not provide a high level of protection, but they prolong the life of the table.

This most convenient opportunity allows you to see how this or that furniture will look in the interior of your home even before you purchase it. This greatly simplifies the choice of furniture.
All the features of your apartment should be marked on these plans. So, if your apartment has a level ceiling or a ceiling of several levels, then this should get on the plan. On the walls, ceiling and floor must be made according to a separate plan, this will greatly simplify the implementation of your ideas for workers. The three most important properties of an ideal building material are environmental friendliness, innovation and practicality. In addition, engineers are developing materials with such unusual properties as luminous paper, bending stones and transparent concrete.
Stone veneer is a cheap alternative to natural stone veneer, but the material is just as durable and just as presentable. The veneer consists of thin stone plates that are glued to fiberglass. As a result, when buying stone veneer, customers not only save money, but also additionally insulate the room. Tiles and flexible sheets of veneer (yes, there are some) can be used for finishing both facades and interiors, both ceilings and walls, and floors. Veneer can be used to create stone intarsia in the same way as regular stone.
Luminous wallpaper is not an ordinary backlit wallpaper, in this wallpaper LEDs are sewn directly into the fabric of the finishing material, and are not attached to it from the outside. A new type of finish was created by the Yashchuk sisters for the famous British brand Meystyle. LED wallpapers are glued on top of ordinary ones, the connectors for their power supply are located at the bottom of each roll. LEDs are designed for 50 thousand hours of continuous operation. Finishing of this type can be used for lighting, for example, in the corridor. There are various types of luminous wallpaper, some shimmer with all the colors of the rainbow, while others glow in one color.
Flexible Tree is a frame structure with a high-tech fabric backing that can be molded into almost any shape. Triangular plates are hung on this textile frame, while the latter are not necessarily wooden; various types of wood materials (MDF, plywood, etc.), marble, metal, ceramics can be used as cladding. “Flexible tree” is suitable for finishing both interiors and facades. Thanks to the textile frame, the finish can be given a spectacular relief structure. One of the great things about this material is that it can be taken apart and reassembled as many times as needed.
The secret of transparent concrete lies in the addition of about 5% fiber optic strands to its composition, otherwise the material consists of the same components as ordinary concrete. Through such material it is really possible to see, however, only silhouettes. In terms of performance, the material is not inferior to ordinary concrete, so it can be used even in load-bearing walls and other loaded structures.
Transparent concrete is divided into two types: illumicon and litracon. However, they practically do not differ from each other in their properties. Transparent concrete is great for making decorative panels. Lamps can be placed between the latter and the wall to create a backlight effect.
Marmoleum is an environmentally friendly roll and tile floor covering. Marmoleum is inferior in terms of convenience to conventional linoleum, but, unlike it, it is almost entirely composed of natural renewable materials, with almost half of them obtained as a result of recycling waste. This finish retains color vibrancy for decades and is highly flame resistant.
Coconut trim is another environmentally friendly material. It is made from coconut shell, which is shaped into tiles. The shells are varnished, thanks to which they can be used for facing not only walls, but also the floor.
Various types of protective coating are used to protect the inhabitants of the house from the harmful materials from which the walls are made. Previously, housing was often made from such harmful materials as asbestos, aerated concrete, expanded clay, and some types of bricks. The impact of these materials is neutralized with the help of interior paints or cleansing wallpapers, which work like a filter.
Recently, the Tesla company began to produce solar panels decorated to look like tiles for roofs. They are no different from ordinary ones, except for their appearance. Thanks to the successful decor, these batteries can be safely used without the risk of disfiguring the roof.
Modern building technologies and design concepts make it possible to use glass literally everywhere. This material is used in the manufacture of furniture, household items, it is often used in decoration. Glass has many advantages and disadvantages.
The tabletop is made of tempered glass, which is six times stronger than ordinary glass. The glass top can easily withstand all standard mechanical loads. Tempered glass satisfactorily withstands high temperatures, you can safely put hot pots and pans on the countertop. The glass top is easy to clean and does not absorb odors or liquids. A significant drawback of the countertop is the fragile edge of the edge.
Depending on the type of fastening, glass aprons are divided into glued and bolted ones. Apron of the second type is much easier to dismantle. Thanks to this feature, aprons are easily modernized, for example, by changing the coating under the sheet. Adhesive aprons, in turn, make it possible to create large seamless compositions. Glass aprons have the overall advantage of being very easy to clean and dirt is not absorbed into the surface.
To create glass facades, an innovative combined material is used. It is based on an aluminum sheet, on which a wooden plank or chipboard sheet is glued. The last layer of lacquered glass is glued. The combination panel looks good, is durable and weighs little. Thanks to these qualities, kitchens that are not divided into sections can be assembled from modern glass plates.
Many people are put off by the fact that legs will be visible through the glass table. Avoiding this is very simple, just choose a top lacquered on the underside or a top in frosted glass. Through the glass tabletop, assembled on an opaque base, nothing will be visible either.
You can clean the glass surface with dishwashing detergent. From dried stains of coffee, glue and other stubborn substances, alcohol, solvent and acetone, as well as products based on them, for example, a nail polish remover mixture, work well. Stubborn dirt can be removed with a cermet scraper. To make the glass shine, it must be rubbed with vinegar.
The glass top looks best on a coffee table. Remember that the thickness of the glass sheet must be at least 8 mm, it will provide the table with acceptable strength.
For showers, ordinary transparent glass is most often chosen; this option is the most optimal and budgetary. If the cabin is located in a combined bathroom, then it is advisable to choose frosted glass. Also in this case, colored glasses are well suited, but it is worth remembering that they require more thorough care. They can be easily damaged by limescale.
Frosted glass is best suited for arranging doors in a closet or wardrobe. They look spectacular and hide the mess on the shelves no worse than doors made of opaque materials. Expensive cabinets are often equipped with transparent doors, in which case various accessories can be effectively placed in them. However, if the cabinet occupies the entire wall, it is more justified to leave most of the doors matte. Glass with a lacquered reverse side is also often used.
It is desirable to make interior partitions from reinforced glass sheets, that is, reinforced with a metal mesh. The latter makes the glass more durable and heat resistant. Glass partitions are usually decorated with wooden and metal inserts.
A glass roof is a very complex engineering structure. It must withstand all the usual roof loads. An acceptable material for making a transparent roof is plastic or acrylic glass. These materials are more than twice as light and an order of magnitude stronger than conventional glass.
Acrylic glass is also used for ceiling decoration. A glass ceiling is a much simpler structure than a roof, but even in this case it is desirable to use lighter and stronger materials.
Glass inserts in the floor are usually used to make a window for viewing the lower floor. Glass for such windows should be especially strong. For such tasks, tempered laminated glass is used, capable of withstanding a load of several hundred kilograms per square meter.
A rich interior is a loose concept. It’s not always about expensive repairs and high-status designer furniture. It is quite possible to do without palatial luxury and excessive glamour. Here are a few tricks to make the interior visually richer:
Even one art object will change the perception of the interior. Do not be stingy, place a large picture on the wall, and it will concentrate the attention of the guests, distracting them from the simple environment.
The works of little-known authors are better than reproductions of famous artists, they will give your home originality, and you will also avoid accusations of kitsch. Visit several flea markets and exhibitions of local artists, where you will get one or two good paintings at a reasonable price.
As an art object in design, not only paintings are used, but also sculptures, busts, torsos. They are sold in art stores. In addition to entertainment, sculptures also have purely utilitarian advantages – they store items of clothing, hats, jewelry, handbags.
Gold is universally associated with luxury and wealth, but a sense of proportion is important when working with this color. In the interior, gold accentuates rather than dominates. Bright accessories are placed on a calm, neutral background. Use photo frames, lamps, and finished furniture. Copper and chrome colors are also suitable for interior accents.
Make the space airy, fill the apartment with light: free cabinets and shelves from unnecessary things, let the shelves take on a half-empty look. Get rid of bulky furniture. You will get both spacious rooms and bring a sense of order and order.
The view from the window completely transforms the impression of the apartment. If you are unlucky enough to get a house with a gorgeous panorama from the windows, do not be discouraged, just place ampelous plants behind the glass.
