Depending on the architectural features of the cottage, the roof can be of two types: flat and pitched. Materials of various cost and physical characteristics are used as digging. Let’s briefly consider their features.
TYPES OF ROOF
- Flat. The angle of inclination of the slope does not exceed 8 °; this type of roofing device is considered the simplest. For flat roofs, rolled coatings made of modified bitumen on a non-woven basis are used. More complex pitched roofs allow you to build winter gardens, swimming pools, car parks or recreation areas on them. Modern building materials make it possible to make flat roofs warm; pressed mineral wool, expanded clay or other bulk materials are used as insulation. The type of insulation is selected taking into account the maximum load on the roof and its functional purpose. Floor slabs – reinforced concrete.
- Broken roofs. The most used during the construction of country cottages can be simple (gable) or complex. Pitched roof covering material: profiled sheets, metal tiles, flexible tiles or natural pieced ceramic tiles. The number of slopes can reach four or more. Pitched roofs are the ideal solution during the construction of the attic. The more slopes – the more complex the truss system. When calculating the rafter system, it is necessary to take into account the maximum height of the snow cover, wind loads and the weight of roofing materials.
- Dome and cone. The most complex from a technical point of view, the rafter system and coating can only be performed by the most experienced craftsmen.
A specific roofing device should take into account the maximum number of individual factors of the cottage, the climatic zone of the building location and the existing weather factors. High-quality roofing is a guarantee of the durability of all building structures. The comfort of living and the optimal indicators of the indoor microclimate largely depend on the roof structure.
